68 coronet 383 auto pwr steering. wheel won't return to center without help?
I changed the pump unit just because I had an extra. I also tried to adjust the screw with the locking nut on the pwr steering unit. no luck. took off the part where the hose connects to the top of the unit and checked for bad springs or valve stick no luck there either. could one of the new hoses be bad? Baffeled.
Wrong alignment of front wheels is the most common problem,wrong caster angle,need a little positive caster,also unadjust the steering box,if the sector adjustmnet is to tight it will cause problems with steering.
