Why does the lid of a cocktail shaker stick after use?

It is stainless steel, you put ice in it, the drink mixture (alcohol) and then you can't take the lid off. Hmmmmm......... Please Help????

Cold makes things contract so the lid that you are pouring from is getting tighter as it gets colder. After the shaker is empty running the top under warm/hot water should loosen it. Keep the hot water on the lid only as best you can. The lid will expand and the base will stay cooler and smaller than the lid so it will loosen. Happy Mixing.
